How to Measure Oven Size?

Method 1 – Measuring a Space for a New Oven

Measuring a Space for a New Oven

Step 1). Determine the measurements of the area that the new Oven will be into.

Do this before looking for an oven to know what size of Oven you should look for. If installing an oven between two countertops or on an interior wall, take measurements of the room’s width, height, and depth using a tape measure.

Step 2). Measure the narrowest door on the pathway toward your kitchen.

You’ll have to select an oven with dimensions less than the frame that is the smallest in width, or you’ll be unable to install the Oven in your kitchen. If you’ve got a narrow door, you might be able to temporarily take this from your door frame so that you have more room to put the Oven in.

Step 3). Find an oven that is one-quarter millimeters (0.64 millimeters) with fewer dimensions than the area.

If you buy an oven that has identical dimensions to the space you’re looking to put it in, it could not be able to fit. Avoid an oven smaller than the space, or there could be visible gaps along the sides.

Method-2 Measuring the Dimensions of Your Oven

Measuring the Dimensions of Your Oven

Step 1). Begin by measuring the top of the Oven to determine the height.

If your Oven is equipped with a control panel for the backsplash, you should only take measurements to the top of the cooking area. This is what’s known as the surface of the Oven with burners.

  • Note down the measurements on an index card while you go along so that you don’t forget.

Step 2). Take a measurement distance from the front towards the back of the Oven to determine the measurement of depth.

If the Microwave Oven is equipped with knobs, handles, or even a panel for control on the front, be sure to exclude them from all depths. Measure only from the front of the Oven and then the back.

If you’re measuring a wall oven, you might need to remove it from its wall and then slide it out 2 to 3 inches (2.5-5.1 cm) so that you can take measurements along the back or the sides of the Oven.

Step 3). Measure from one end of the Oven towards the opposite to determine the length.

If your Oven has an extended lip surrounding your cooking surfaces, don’t count the lip in your measurement.
